Are backups important?- Yes, they are essential. There are many reasons why you might need a backup, such as viruses, corruption, physical damage, malicous intent, hackers.
As long as you have your own backup of your site, you will be able to recover from nearly all disasters associated with your website.
What is the serverside backup policy?-
All servers are setup to take and store daily, weekly and monthly backup archives of all system config file and accounts. These are taken and stored on a separate hard drive in each server mounted only for the purpose of backups. This allows us to restore all configuration and all elements of accounts should the primary hard drive fail.
Having said this, all clients are always strongly advised to take their own regular backups from the cPanel and never rely on our backup process. It has never failed us but one can never be too careful when backups of important files are concerned.
We are able to restore accounts from these archives on request (eg if you delete important files by mistake). To request this please open a support ticket with your server name and account username and we'll carry out the restore.
What is cpanel backup?- The Backup area of your cPanel Control Panel allows you to backup your current hosting account settings and files. You should always keep your own hosting account on your local computer to provide for easy recovery in the event of a problem.
How do I backup my website and hosting account?- Login to your cPanel Control Panel and choose 'Backup'. Click the link which reads 'Download Today's Home Backup'. Your computer will then prompt you for a place to save your backup files locally for safekeeping.
How do I restored a backup created my cpanel?- If you've previously downloaded a backup copy of your website through your cPanel Control Panel, restoring your site is a simple process. Login to your cPanel Control Panel and choose 'Backup'. Once inside the Backup menu, you'll be prompted to perform three separate types of backup restorations, including 'Restore a Home Backup', 'Restore an SQL Database', and/or 'Restore an Alias/Filter Backup'.
Choose the type of backup you wish to restore, click the 'Browse' button next to your backup option, and direct your hosting account server to the file on your computer which you'd like to restore. After the file has been located, click the 'Upload' button and your hosting account will begin to restore your backup automatically for you once uploaded.
